Operation pick up the hire bike was a horrible ride. I had hoped that 3 days off the bike would have cured the worst of my ague, but it did not.

Added dose of manflu and other assortmented ailments (ask @Fubar if he likes oranges) and I had an utterly piteous effort to get the 26 miles back to the hotel. The idea of prepending 7,000 feet and 74 miles to the front of that route is utterly unthinkable to me.

I'm not known for being very sensible usually but I know when I am beat and boy am I ever beat, in every single way.

Being clipped by a wing mirror on the big climb took away my nerve and resolve, although nothing was broken except a resolution not to call strangers by a certain word...

Thus concludes this evening's whingefest. Apologies!

Stop deflating my inners @Scoosh, I don't get many compliments as it is - don't like Asti either btw
Anyhoo, my latest bike rescue tonight was a young girl, chain came off ... there was a chain guard, harumph!
She spend the whole event on her mobile, while I kept asking her again and again to please keep the bike upright and still for me, as I could not see the chain guard screws without glasses in the semi dark.
Double harumph!
