It could also be that they have an unwritten policy to fail the majority on their first try, to test your resolve - kind of like the driving test where they (certainly used to be) harder on you if they knew it was your first test.

I wish that was true, I was really nervous and failed to answer a good few questions properly but I will be better prepared next time
