'm not heavy duty like oor Pat (who obviously tells lies to obtain discount on the railways ).
 :smooch:

Got my free (ta @Bobby Mhor ) over 50's discount rail card now :becool:
West coast line. Rannoch station. It's half the distance away to the holiday home that Pitlochry is (east coast line) and a much nicer and quieter ride but sadly with far fewer trains!

Edit: I can probably volunteer a husband to visit one of the railway stations with car and bike rack. Max would be 3 passengers though.

Edit 2: we are/will be 11 miles from Rannoch station (mostly downhill) and 27-30 miles from Pitlochry station depending on your route choice (entirely uphill on both routes). The shorter route has a short killer of climb that claims 1:4 and 1:3 in parts but is a beautiful ride done in the other direction! Actually the small print should read that the other direction has a 1:4 as well but it is much shorter and easier IMO!

Thanks for the heads up, fellow old duffers. I am now a member of the Scotrail semi-pensioners club. Now; where to go with my tenner ticket? It has to be before the end of September, right? I fancy a wee day trip to Mallaig!
The only way I could do it under the old Club 55 deal was to travel to Glasgow at peak time early morning, off peak return on same day wasn't possible..
take the bike before the 30th Sept and return early October:okay:

N+1

Tried it out today (it was being sold by Rig as well as advertised on gumtree, so I popped along after work). It rides beautifully*, so I only need to change the pedals and the brake pads but other than that it's perfect! :hyper:

Unfortunately I couldn't ride it away as I couldn't get quite enough cash out the hole in the wall...
*as beautifully as my brother's crocheting @Fubar @Edwardoka @DougieAB
