Could be tempted to ride home from Central station, via a curry at Charing Cross area.

Saw on twitter this morning that PfS is now fully traffic-free. Should make the first few miles out of Glasgow less unpleasant.

Anyone care to comment on this route? Not sure about the A803 between Linlithgow and Falkirk - a bit busy?
Haven't done that bit of the A803, but between Falkirk and Kirkintolloch it's a somewhat busy, but perfectly rideable.

As a (slightly;)) hillier alternative, you could plot a route straight across the small lanes from Winchburgh round the back of Beecraigs and via Slamannan to Cumbernauld.

The fine* people of Coatbridge and Airdrie won't be happy about that!

I once rode back from PfS along the A71 in the days when I believed I was invincible. Not recommended, but going back against the route of PfS might prove to be problematic. Might be easier to go back via Livingston than Linlithgow.

The route still stops in Drumpellier so that you can get your bike nicked, er, serviced.

Good point about using too much of the same route back. So without further ado - Take 2 - what do you think?

@Rasmus I've decided that Kirkliston is to be avoided as it is on the route into Murrayfield. So, I'm thinking Broxburn then cut across to Slamannan (I hate the dig out of Slamannan) and then home.

Probably won't do it at all now ^_^

There should be plenty riding back, route looks fine - just remember not to ride on the A8 between Gogar and Newbridge! Use the path. If you want an alternative from Murrayfield I'm sure there are blue signs, or follow the trams to the Gyle.

The A8 cycle path is meant to be a mess so a lot of folk cycle on the A8:wacko: my girfriend works at the Gyle and she tells me she will see cyclist on the road all the time...I'm not sure if you'd be better taking the cycle paths to the Crammond Brig pub then take the back road to Kirkliston - Winchburgh then on to Linlithgow....Thats the route i'd take out of Edinburgh.

Done it - but missed out the curry bit, in favour of the Bridge of Weir chippy. I kid you not, I got rained on from Kilmacolm all the way to Largs. On checking the rain radar on RainToday.co.uk , I would appear to have been followed by the only rain cloud in the west of Scotland at that time. WTF is it with me and rain :cursing:.
Anyhooo.....Because of said rain I gave up on reaching a metric century for the day, but as the rain has now passed and I am only about 5 miles short, I might have to go out again. Does 2 separate rides 400 miles apart on the same day count as a metric century?
