Just goes to show what a waste of time bi-lingual signs are!
I enjoy these ones - I wonder how many gaelic speakers need reminding...

It was a bit weird travelling through Basque Spain, because Basque place names are wildly different to their Spanish names, and all the signs were bilingual.

We kept seeing signs for Donostia and San Sebastian and I thought those referred to different places until we passed it...

I made the same mistake when I came off the ferry in Zeebrugge and was trying to find my way to Lille, France. I didn't realise it was called Rijsel in Belgian!

Bank have agreed to give me £500 to get another bike now I think i've narrowed it down to two makes but which one and which gears?

http://www.orbea.com/gb-en/bicycles/range-2015/avant-h50/ (Sora) £680
http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Giant-Defy-3-2015-Road-Bike_73910.htm (Sora) £450ish
http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Giant-Defy-2-2015-Road-Bike_73909.htm (Tiagra) £520ish colour is a bit bland

or do i extend the budget slightly and get 105 on a giant bike

http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Giant-Defy-1-2015-Road-Bike_73908.htm (105) £720ish

EDIT I should have added that orbea bikes come with a bike fit and the bike is made around my measurements

The Orbea, because it's pretty , but also because getting a bike that you know fits you well is more important than specs.

That is a pretty good deal on the Defy, though.

Oooh lovely! My Defy 3 View attachment 101616
But if the bank is paying, I'd chip in and get the Defy 1.

I like the colour of the Defy 3 :okay:

That was my thinking and it's from my local bike shop which means repairs and any problems are easily solved, and as they said the bike isn't made in a factory in Taiwan  I know it's not cheap for a reason but would be lovely if it was closer to the £600 mark

You getting the hot pink Orbea? ;)

I do like the look of the Orbea, but only by riding it will you know - is that from SW cycles? John won't see you wrong.

Of course

Yeah its from SW, I think it was John I was speaking to the other day, the one I linked in above is this year's colour but looking at next year's colours I think I prefer them

I'm also thinking for another £300 (finance prob) that i can get the slightly better gears, saddle and wheels

Just to throw a curveball into your melting pot is that really what you need for the type of riding you do, especially through the winter? I'd be gutted to have a really nice road bike that fell apart come March because the roads have ground down every component.

Just a thought, other thoughts will be along shortly.

Roadie won't be used in the winter, learned that the hard way with the Triban.

Eventually I would like to have a fast commuter and a nice roadie for the days I do actually get to go out  Until then a half decent roadie will need to do
