What a wonderful day it has been for the cycling.
The searing heat of summer
has now passed in the Highlands and it is safe to go out with shirt sleeves rolled up in the balmy autumn days without sunhat or Factor 99. Everything was well in the world, even the farmers were smiling at the weather as combines and balers did their work. Have you noticed the size of these square bales nowadays? I'll swear they make them bigger every year. And the brambles too, what a crop, it's difficult not to stop too often to enjoy these sweet treats at the roadsides. I knew I would be doing a bit of climbing today, so took the camera. Anyone else noticing the relationship between photo opportunities and the gradient of the hill you happen to be climbing at the time?
The unusual sight of the day for me was the five padlocks on the gate to a windfarm, they presented no problem for cyclists who could pass freely through the gate at the side.
