OK, I've downsized my expectations a bit. Which way to the Faroes, my good chap?

We're Gonna need a bigger boat.

That's a shame, I had something like this in mind........

But then if you were in the market for that, I guess you might be able to afford the CX as well .
That's my winter hack boat. My good boat is much nicer than that.

I can sail :hyper: … and drive one of those ! :hyper:

Between @Brandane and me, we should be able to get Sir where Sir wishes to go …

Getting back again … … let's call that "negotiable".
Piece o' cake! I knew those 3 years as a navigating apprentice in the Merchant Navy would come in useful some day. Gie's a map and a compass and we're off .

Messed up today. Our road was very icy so I decided to take the bus to work. But the ice stopped at the end of the street and the roads were completely clear! Too late, I was committed.
So instead of an 11 minute cycle door to door, I had a 15 min walk to the bus stop on icy pavements, only to just miss a bus, so a 10 minute wait, and then another 15 minutes on the bus. Last time I didn't cycle to work was in 2013! :banghead:

Commiserations :hugs:
My last bike ride was on Sunday, if it's any consolation. Last night the difference between outside & inside the bypass at Straiton was amazing - completely white road surfaces & heavy flurry vs. gritted with only a very slight sprinkling on the pavements and at the edge of the main road (A701) ... Glad I wasn't on the bike, cars were slip-sliding all over the place and a few by the side of the road exchanging insurance details for having very slowly & gently bumped into each other. That's when bikes and bodies not protected by metal boxes come off much worse  ... we need separated infrastructure along main roads

Braved it on the bike today, winds are bloody mental, avg speed for 6 miles was 12mph and its mostly downhill :bicycle::surrender::heat:

Fed up with buses and feeling crappy so decided to ride because why not. Absolutely wild weather today... bent almost double trying to stop being blown off the road by big gusty crosswinds, then I turned a corner and for a mile or so I had a perfect tailwind - the bubble of air that travels at the same speed as you - but as soon as I deviated slightly from its direction I got buffeted all over the road.

I get to ride home into it tonight

12mph ? that's not a very strong wind - it's been 20+ around here !

Oh - you mean that was your cycling speed  ... well now, that's tough going - but at least you are riding again:bravo:

Keep Safe out there, Guys and Gals  - there's a long season** to come

**where the word means <20mph winds, over 10*C and any :sun: is a bonus !

Must have been atleast 50-70mph gusts this morning which were south west and thats my exact direction of travel, the mile i had going east was amazing  I'll be going to short way home tonight if that wind has not died down
