Exactly, a good few people still wouldnt give me enough room last night, even though they seen what I was cycling in :cursing:

A truck veered into our path this morning to overtake a cyclist on Aberdour Road, couldn't wait the 7 seconds it would take us to pass him to take advantage of the gap behind us - though at least he avoided the cyclist! There aren't half some nobbers about.

It's just the "I must get passed" mentality bugs the hell out of me

South Edinburgh seems worse as it's had snowfall which has then frozen - a bit slippy walking into town this morning!

But it makes the view from the office rather nice.

Och! :hugs:
Try again at the next possible opportunity, you will do fine next time because you know now what to expect
I do keep an eye out for what posts they're advertising, but to be honest am fairly settled for the moment.

A few weeks after that interview (and more unsuccessful applications in the cycle trade) I got a visit out of the blue from a former work colleague wondering if I was available to do some temp work for his current employer. I was, they liked me and I got asked back for more the following month before they offered a permanent position.^_^

Okay, so it's warehouse rather than mechanicing and it's motor scooter/motorbike parts rather than bicycle but I'm finding it engaging and it's easy cycling distance from home (8 to 11 miles each way depending on what route I use) which Islabikes isn't.

You could always do bike repairs in your days off

Fitted the Snow Stud tyres this afternoon, does that count? Naturally the forecast for the coming week is now for up to 11C so they'll get plenty of running in before being used on ice.

Not sure, some of mine are like that on the tyre I used on the rear-wheel last winter... as long as they still grip, should be OK?
How soft are your tyres?

I went for 40psi front and 45 rear. Wanted the studs to make contact with the road surface for bedding in but didn't want to run them too soft so they were draggy.

If other people have the odd stud at a funny angle too I won't worry too much and just get on with riding.^_^

Many thanks again for the spare ice tyre studs, @Pat "5mph"! Operation successfully completed, with the help of a tiny screwdriver and a drop of washing-up liquid, as per an earlier thread on this wonderful forum... :wahhey:only took seconds

@Rickshaw Phil - I prodded some of my non-straight studs with the mini-screwdriver a bit, they are now sitting straight again. Not sure it matters much, as long as they grip the ice - on the other hand, having seen what the hidden parts of the studs look like this (like an upside down drawing pin, with the flat-cap head inside the tyre), it could be a sign that they may pop out at some point ... just thinking aloud here, could be complete rubbish ...

A quick question for all you studded tyre users: I've done my running in ride today - no studs lost but a small number on the rear tyre are at slightly drunken angles. Is this normal?

it could be a sign that they may pop out at some point ...

Yes, (ime) rightly guessed by Telemark above.
Only happened during the bedding in time for me: I quickly straighted them with the aid of thin nosed pliers. That was when I first got them, 3 winters ago.
From last winter to this one, all studs are still present and correct.
