My mum is currently suffering from sciatica, well a slipped disc is pushing on her nerve, seems to be brought on by doing the kilt walk, so she has been suffering since May with it

Hope you were all OK on your bikes today, there was/is definitely black ice in deepest darkest Midlothian :cold:. We saw ice on the pond during our wee lunchtime walk, despite the sun shining:sun: all morning, and the work car park was rather slippery to walk across at home time. Love my ice tyres ...:wub:

@Harry_Palmer79 - Any idea what brought on the sciatica/ back pain ? Ride position ? Not enough cycling ?

Thought of a sports massage/therapist person ? :unsure:

GWS anyway :hugs:

Could you manage over for the CC Ecosse Christmas Feed ?

Not sure what brought it on tbh. I woke up last Tuesday and couldn't reach down to tie my shoe-laces. I was okay-ish when I was up and walking about, but if I stood in one place for more than a minute (to wash the dishes etc or on the train) it was really painful... I was just taking ibuprofen/paracetamol, but I put a deep-heat pad on yesterday and it feels much better already... not quite 100% but getting there!

I am definitely up for the :hungry: and possibly :cheers:as well on the 13th if there's space at the table!

I purchased a dreamland thermo therapy heat pad... In otherwords an electric hot gel pad/wheatbag. It had been wonderful for relieving the tension in my back from the sciatica i have at the moment.

www.argos.co.uk/m/static/Product/partNumber/4441232.htm

Or here

www.amazon.co.uk/Dreamland-Size-Thermo-Therapy-Heatpad/dp/B00BNAEIKE

The link is to the size I bought. Had I have known the company did a larger rectangular one i would have got that, but I can't find many stockists other than 1 on amazon who has inflated prices. But you can go to sleep on it because it has an auto cut out after 3 hips and is designed to be lain on, unlike an electric blanket. Worth the £30.

Aye, it does'nae come itself... ;) GWS Ross! To be fair I'm always walking out the house forgetting things, usually gloves, lights, bottle, etc though don't think I've ever forgotten my helmet... (paging @Fnaar) must be the age thing! Still, the bubble wrap you apply before every ride should protect you, shouldn't it?!?

Sorry to derail the thread a bit, were I to suggest a new year CycleChat jaunt somewhere sunnier than Scotland would there be much enthusiasm (or indeed, any?)
I'm taking a hard look at having another crack at Tenerife in the first week or so of January and it would be awesome to have some company.

Requirements: Must be able to cycle up a volcano** Must not be able to cycle up a volcano** faster than me :hello::gun:

* Big
* Not in Holyrood Park

Does Arthur's Seat count? It'll have to, cos it's the only volcano I'm likely to be cycling up in Jan. :laugh:
