22 is abou 17% more than my wide behind can climb at under 200bpm!

Morning all, I'm looking for a bit of route advice. Sometime this summer I'm going to cycle up to Perth (my sister and her family stay there). I was going to head from home to the Kincardine bridge area via Falkirk but I'm not sure of a route after that. I would rather avoid the A91 and the A977 and I'd thought of going through Dunning at some point.

Th A977 and A91 aren't really that bad. Certainly not roads I would go out of my way to avoid - especially when doing so necessitates a sizable detour (the A907 IS a road I would want to avoid!).

Here's the route for the Perth ride done by Ed, mr messy and I last year. I would go the same way if doing it again.

Another lovely morning to commute

Gear cable snapped on me yesterday morning, phoned the bike shop, they once again opened later for me and fixed it in 2 mins and at the grand total cost to me of £3, can't recommend them enough

i would really go up to Dunblane and take that back road through Kinbuck to Braco, then i would take wee country road that takes you along the back of Gleneagles all the way to dunning i would then take the B934 then join the B9112 all the way to perth, the back road from Dunblane all the way to Dunning is an amazing road, usually the wind is on your back so you seem to just float along the road..Maybe a bit further than you planned but its the way i would go from Alloa if i was doing it...You can easily go up over Glendevon by the front of Gleneagles then turn righ down through Auchterarder then on to Dunning..

Psychic octopus predicts you'll be recommending them again in another week or so... when the next thing snaps

You should be changing your own gear and brake cables anyway ...

The downside is that it is then too easy to blame the mechanic - but at least you can get him to improve.
