I didnt have one as was a half marathon month, but a few long rides had me within reach of 500km. plan was 40 yesterday, then close it off tonight. Last nights mechanical & bump leaves me 37 miles to make up......+1 has been cleaned, rain has started, but im off to give it a bash

To Athens  for a project meeting, never been to Greece before :hyper:.
Tomorrow is travelling all day, Tue/Wed very busy working, Thu morning is all mine , have a wee look at this!
I better not tell you that the forecast looks sunny & high 10s/low 20s C for the next few days :sun:...

I've been, sightseeing on foot, was not cycling then.
What a great idea that is, hope you find time for a wee bike tour!

:hello: from Athens ... nearly bed time here!
It's been a long day travelling, lovely sunset on arrival and a balmy evening, i.e. a simple thin fleece is plenty warm enough for wandering back from dinner in a wee local restaurant - full of lovely food now:hungry:, including plenty of garlic  ... Luckily there were 6 of us, so it will be an all-pervading aroma at the work meetings for the next couple of days:giggle:.

I really hope I can manage it, will have to figure out the timings for getting back to the airport in good time, and then find out the earliest time for picking up a bike, so I can get a couple of hours of pootling around in ... alternatively, I can just walk into the centre and see the Acropolis, which would also be pretty special!

Athens is much more exotic than my two day trips to London last week
I sympathise, this makes for very long and tiring days, whether by train or plane ... you just pop up from the tube, do your meeting(s) and pop back below ground ...
Unless, of course, you can catch the train and take the work 'zero-carbon vehicle' along (my workplace has a Brommie  which lives in my office when nobody is using it) - in which case there is a large element of fun included in the day .

Enjoy your trip, @Telemark !

My memories of Athens are of a surprise encounter with demonstrators and police in riot gear near Syntagma square, and roads I would not really want to pootle about on by bike.

Akropolis is nice, though, and the Panathenaic Stadium is pretty impressive.

There's also a bar somewhere that serves a truly brilliant White Russian, but I don't really remember where it was...

Apparently there are particular days when to avoid certain areas/squares due to demonstrations every year, but sometimes it can escalate and become more random in time and place ... like with the Greek budget/debt discussions ... nothing planned or expected for the next few days, I did check...

Wee roads seem to be fine for cycling here ... the larger/busier ones are a different matter , from what I've seen so far, even though it all seems to be quite relaxed in a mediterranean sort of way, if that makes sense! Expect the unexpected ...
I'll report back on the sight seeing, can't promise to track down your White Russian though xx( ... ;) was the 'not remembering' due to the destruction of the brain cells containing the relevant information, perhaps?

only managed 27 of 37 required miles before ankle and knee knocks started screaming at me. took a lot of persuading myself before I agreed to stop, have done enough suffering for this weekend. Boardman was running great.....anyone want to buy a Cube

In a similar sort of thing I retrieved my Focus from temporary storage today. It's not been out since I think December so the tyres were far too soft to ride. Even just pushing it the mile to the train station was a joy, though.
Lance was dead wrong, it IS all about the bike... anyone want to buy a Triban? :bicycle:

ThAt Lance guys been given a rough time, I agree  was good to be on it and see that me feeling stronger on bike wasn't just the cubes doing. Knee bruise is telling me my everyday in April plan isn't going to happen though.

I'm waiting to hear if my bikes getting its first service on Saturday, if it is are any of the west coasters riding Saturday,as may have a few hours to kill in the real capital ?

Probably a daft question, but how would you be going for a bike ride if your bike is in getting serviced? Would you drive across with both bikes?
I'd potentially be up for a spin, but end of week weather forecast looking glum.
