I didn't mean to overtake you :rose:. But I had the day off, and the Rigg was calling. So I had to ride over it. Twice.

Awww ...:hugs:
Don't worry about the overtaking, that's just life (or work, in this case , and the moment work = life for the most part) ... I'm not competitive really, just trying to keep ahead of @Col5632 .

How did you go over the Rigg twice? up from Gifford, down to the Whiteadder reservoir & back up again?

I hope you get your life back soon! This is not the weather to be enslaved.

Here's a link to the route I did. I went from Gifford over the Rigg past the reservoir to Cranshaws, through Duns and back up the other side via Longformacus. That loop itself contains some of the most stunning roads I've ever cycled. The valley down to Cranshaws is spectacular. The road up from Duns is awesome too.

Hope so, too ... still a few more weeks to go  ... I foresee the worst for the rest of this week and this weekend, unfortunately ...

@Scoosh, HJ and I did a similar route over the Rigg and onwards along the wee undulating road down to Longformacus and onwards to Kelso, when we picked up the CC 'northern' jersey on its relay (sadly now defunct), before cycling back along the Whiteadder, through Cranshaws and over the 'Hungry Snout' the next day on the way home. Definitely one of my favourite places to cycle in Scotland, too ... must go back soon :hyper:.
Speaking of @Scoosh - :highfive: great to see that you and Mrs S are out on the bikes again, and enjoying the sunshine :sun:.

Yay, work finished for today. :wahhey:

@Col5632 - better find your mojo quickly and get your skates on, if you want to catch @Pat "5mph" and me on MCL before we build up an unassailable lead. @edindave has now overtaken me :cycle:, I am no longer 4th among CC Ecosse's finest , behind the mega-miler boys :giggle:. Fair weather cyclists, pah (not the mega-milers, obviously)! :headshake:;)

Yeah i know
I'm on the heavy hybrid at the moment and while its good practice it makes my rides slower and my legs more painful :bravo:
Need to get my roadie's chain changed before i miss out on all the possible miles :sun:

I know what you mean... I got my new hybrid to do a few slightly hillier commutes home than I could on the Single Speed, but it's just not as much fun to ride longer distances on so I have started commuting on the T5 this week to get a few longer/less boring trips home while the weather is a bit friendlier :sun:

55 miles it was today and it was just awesome!

Last time I had a longish ride of 42 miles I was totally wrecked with 5 miles to go, so after that I got out more in the evenings as my Brother has got the bug too and now also has a road bike. I've tried to push myself harder and get a bit faster and today I got my reward. It just seemed easier all the way, I was climbing better and felt like I could have done another 10 miles when I finished. An average speed of 15.2mph, I'm chuffed to bits with that.

What is it? What is it? What is it? :hyper:
How long have you got?
Ok ...
After 2 years of reading CC and riding tanks, I found the need for a nimbler addition to my stable.
I was tending towards a Spec Tricross, visited Evans, the bike guy would not entertain me. He kept suggesting doubles when I said I wanted lower gears, another sales assistant was more helpful, thought the Akose (xx() range would be suitable for our island tour because his girlfriend uses it. He was like 30 years younger than me!
I know I need a triple to keep up with the Ecosse routes, I know I wanted rack and panniers for our tour, I know I want an extra low gear compared to Boris' freewheel, I know I want broader tyres than a roadie has.
Sadly most of this options do not seem to be available on the Tricross 2014, while the 2013 range leftovers are all big frames.
So today I went to a LBS run by a chap and his two sons, that deals in Merida bikes. I liked the look of the Meridas since I saw one of the Belles riding one, but thought they are all pure road bikes.
Anyhoo, one of the sons listened to what I wanted, got me a Merida road hybrid in my size and the colour I like :girldance:is going to change the road cassette for a hill buster one, change the tyres, fit mudguards and a rear rack, change the handlebar grips. It had to be a flat bar one because I wanted the front triple: no doubt stem and /or bar adjustments will be needed, need to do a few miles on it first before I know.
Hydraulic disk brakes too: the total cost is less than any Spec triple basic bike I could find, that is if my size had been available.
