I seed Ford have just released the all new Capri.

Another mate at college made a cut and shut mini, ie two halves from write-off cars welded together. All perfectly doable in them days.
Same lad then picked up an old mk2 Jag for next to nothing, with a full tank of petrol!
College was in Maidenhead, and of a lunchtime he wanted to take it for a blast down the M4 to see what it could do.
We got to a ton, then he chickened out, too much play in the steering if I recall.
Them were the days.

We should have got a Ford Razzle to follow the Fiesta and Escort.

For those unaware of the new Capri

I went through the configurator, £52K and chump change.

Puts it way, way over the 40k Premium car tax threshold. Hardly anyone will buy it compared to a Tesla Model Y long range at basically the same price

Brother in law used to race in formula Ford, mainly Fiesta Escorts and Sierras, of varying years and models. There was one guy raced a Capri, lost every race, not that good on the straights, had to break very early before each corner and then spent as long getting going again. Always guessed he was an 'enthusiast' living his dream...

Surely he must have been doing something wrong, the 2.8i was fast in a straight line without tarting the engine up.
