The careful placing of the full stop in the written quote wasn't present as a pause after 'sorry' in her speech pattern, she was saying sorry for the tweet escalating out of control, not for the collision...

If you truly believe what you've written above is true and that what I've typed has been abusive and spiteful may I suggest you don't leave the house, I think you may be a little over sensitive for what's outside your front door. However I don't think you really believe that so I will humour you and play along with your game.

There can be a occasions on this forum where posters wish to demonise car drivers further than they have managed to do so themselves, the all car drivers bad scenario. The M.O. for this is to ensure that all readers know that car drivers consider themselves the elite, that they look down on us cyclists and view us as an underclass, the way in which this is achieved is of course by using particular language. Therefore, any parent that collects their children from school by car (preferably 4x4) will have named said children Jocasta or Tarquin. No young driver will have bought or be funding their own vehicle, it will be provided by their parents, or more precisely (and as demonstrated in your post by your carefully chosen choice of words) by daddy. The aim being that we view them as particuarly horrid Veruca Salts. Look at these people that think they're better than us with their privileged lifestyles etc etc. But it's not just Daddy that buys cars for their offspring, it's Dad and Mum and Nan. Now it may well be that Miss Way is horrendously spoilt, she certainly has an inflated sense of entitlement, but why don't you just say that rather than using tired stereotypes?

So there we are, you can now deny that you meant anything of the sort when you said "daddy" and tell me how completely wrong I am. Then you can tell me that you think I'm a dreadful bully and utterly beastly for saying such nasty things and call for me to be banned from the internet or whatever
Yawn , you do really seem to have a chip on your shoulder, i never demonised car drivers at all , all i said was in this particular case that making the person who had willfully knocked someone of a bike , drove off without making sure that the person was ok and then posting how great that is should be made to crush their own car.the parents who i presumed bought it should watch as they surely would be rightly upset with their offspring and would asking for their money back at the very least.
I cannot for the life of me see how you have gone from that to seemingly believe i have a personal vendetta against car owners in general .
i think you need to stop taking this personally as your family members have gone out of your way to buy your son a car which is obviously a great thing to do and i applaud you but again why have you taken it to mean that parents should not buy cars ?
Finally i never for one moment said you needed banning from the forum or the internet so please read my posts more carefully as all i said was that if you had a problem with my post you could report it which would have got my posts removed or my account suspended .
As for being over sensitive i would ask you to look in the mirror as every post in this exchange you have been retaliatory and i have tried to reason with you .If you do not agree with my OP thats fine but i fail to see how you jumped from
"make her crush her car with daddy watching "
to
"demonise car drivers further than they have managed to do so themselves, the all car drivers bad scenario"

Is this still going? Am I the only one who is starting to find that this whole episode is leaving a bitter taste in the mouth?

Not the hit-and-run, not the tweet, but the pack mentality since with the scent of blood in their nostrils and baying for a kill?

Highlighting the story was correct in so far as bringing it to the attention of the police who's job it is to investigate and start the wheels of justice turning.

But the fact that this has degenerated into personal attacks on the lass - appearance, gender, almost gleeful suggestions that 'we' need to take it upon ourselves to inform her employer etc, clearly aching for - and rejoicing in - someone suffering a public humiliation in the national media; even if there is a fair amount of jest in there, this rolling thunder approach to such a soft, vulnerable, easily stereotyped target to me is a more pitiful commentary on society than the events themselves.

A young girl has made an extremely silly mistake - or more accurately, series of mistakes - which having now been highlighted will be dealt with accordingly. Why do people feel that the carcass needs to be picked clean?

1) Dumbass. 2) Hope she learns from this. 3) Move on.
