I think a law should be made to ban people who are bastards from using the roads in any way. Whether they be on a bike, bicycle, car or skateboard. The road network just doesnt work properly with idiots using it.

I have to say, I was rather surprised at the distance to which he refers . . . 'about 20 metres', is 'about' 60 feet . . . that's one heck of a distance to travel anywhere off the road (on a road bike), let alone, 'go through a hedge'; I do wonder if he has exaggerated the situation, for dramatic effect.

I would imagine he ended up 'skimming' (for want of a better word) along (rather than through) the side of the hedge for that distance. That's how I took it anyhoo
