Yes...... 50 years ago (late 60s) we knew an elderley lady that had lived in one of them since childhood........she was explaining all that to us. Staggering.

Northern are already blaming delays/cancellations tomorrow on the weather.Well the south east is where most of the politicians and journalists are based, isn't it? Remember the rolling 24-hour news coverage the other year when 0.5 mm of snow fell in London, and Fiona Bruce was dispatched to Trafalgar Square to report on the polar bears roaming wild through the capital ?

Thats irrelevant. It was the consistent over estimation, or at least over-warning, of extreme weather events that I was commenting upon. This is a well documented phenomenon and has been commented upon more than once in parliament.
I made no comment at all about the accuracy or otherwise of regular forecasting, so I can only presume you are talking to yourself again.

Well I’m taking no chances. The steeds safely tucked up indoors tonight/ tomorrow!
My road bikes in the kitchen, just in case it really is wild tomorrow as tomorrows task is new bar tape. Have a pretty stupid recycling system of a plastic box for bottles and cans which vanish in the merest of breezes so it has the hose pipe reel sat in it to give it some attachment to land..
