So it was a big boy who stole your login details ,posted about how children should be made to wear helmets and ran away then?

I said "I have not seen evidence that would make me stop wearing a helmet nor have i called for you to wear one so i have no idea what your problem is."

Well if you think that makes me a liar then you are the child in this instance. Care to rephrase?

Are you suggesting there is NO evidence at all Norm or just that i haven't shown any?? Or more importantly is it just not evidence you deem fit so it gets shoved to the side.
I've shown twice why the statistics you posted were not relevant and thus why I suggest that you haven't posted any. I know that you are one for repetition but do excuse me if I don't type it out again as you and David seem to be more concerned with me saying that they weren't relevant than actually spending a few seconds considering why they weren't relevant.

Great, between us we have no relevant information. I have taken the liberty of discounting your information as irrelevant. It appears to be one of the rights of cycle chat members and i wish to exercise it.

Does that include sitting in the bath, taking a shower, sitting in the pub, mowing the lawn, playing chess and running with scissors?? Thought we were talking about cycling?

Your statement was simple....

I I choose because i believe hitting your head on the road or hard surface can be improved upon with the aid of a helmet. It's my head thanks..

Are you unequivocally stating that this is only true for cycling?

Are you denyingthat a pedestrian falling would not derive the same benefit?

As for sitting in the pub........ you are aware that the NICE guidelines, and most cohort studies on head injuries show that alcohol ei s the biggest single factor in head injuries..... typically in the region of 60 of head injuries requiring hospital admission.

THIS IS A CYCLING FORUM. You are still talking compulsion. I don't want to enforce anything on any adult. It is only my opinion that children should wear safety helmets when cycling due to the very nature of learning to cycle, usually at an early age.
If a parent feels their child should have a helmet on 24/7 then i suggest thats up to the parents. I am talking about cycling. I am on a cycling forum.

The only difference being that yours failed through basic logic whereas mine failed because you couldn't figure out how to open an Excel file.
Haha, i bow to your superiority Norm. Whats it like being right all the time?? Problem is with that is you wake up one day and realise that not only are you not really liked, you also were wrong quite a lot. Just couldn't see it at the time.

Remember the outcry when they wanted to make seat belts mandatory? A lack of evidence they said. We should have the right to make up our own minds. Same old story all the time Norm. The difference is people like you think you can actually change the outcome.

Ps, Yeh i did open the file. Jeez, hard work you are.

I like Norm too. JFTR.

Really?? How a helmet looks or how hi vis looks is not a factor?? I am against compulsion. Adults can make up their own mind.
I cant make the question more easy to understand than it is. Why do you think people are against helmets and/or helmet compulsion? And, again, its emphatically not because of the way helmets look in the mirror.

Let me know if you need a clue.

That reply has nothing at all to do with the actual question asked....

Statistics on how many folks injure their head when falling as pedestrians, and the percentage of them that sprain/break legs/arms instead of injuring their head
If you could find statistics that disregard alcohol related falls, think we can assume the average falling cyclist is sober.
This is not a wind up, I am really curios and to tired to google - my commute today was horrendous.

well of course he would, of course a helmet would help pedestrians if they fall over - in icy conditions it would be sensible to put a cycle helmet on.
old and infirm, unsteady - good idea. - after all its not less dangerous than falling off a horse and they generally wear helmets, or more dangerous (being a pedestrian) than caving - they wear helmets or parachuting- all statistically safer than walking around.

so of course they should wear helmets.

so just because they don't and suffer the consequences your saying cyclists, parachutists, soldiers in war zones, mountain climbers, pot hollers, motorcyclists and all the others that do , shouldn't ?

is that the basis of your argument, because one group don't -and take quite high casualties - all the others shouldn't either - are you French?

The statement in question did not mention risk....

It is now a simple case of exploring why this benefit should be limited to cyclists.......

Because it messes their hair? I mean really are you going to answer the question for everyone? Wow.
