He's a 🔔 end.

Sadly he appears to have survived.

To be fair, he was always going to cop a bit of flak just because of who he is. I don't know a lot about the circumstances of the accident but he looks really badly bruised, so I'm assuming it could have been much worse and he's obviously had a fright. When I saw the video, first I was delighted he was a cyclist (not entirely sure why) then I was glad he was OK after what was obviously a significant incident, but then I just wished that people with the ear of so many people would just think before giving us all safety advice.

That looks very nasty, having had similar injuries he's going to be in a lot of pain.

Don't agree with the "helmet saved my life" nonsense, but what is he realistically going to do in the situation? Tell people it's a choice (which is my position) and risk some litigation down the line? Especially as it happened in the US.

I would have hoped keeping your mouth shut about a helmet and maybe used my fame (notoriety) to discuss road safety involving vulnerable road users. Probably a bit idealistic especially given that we don't know what happened.

But there, as here, helmets carry the same disclaimer on the labels.

Has it saved his life? Almost certainly not. But he'd have had some grim damage to his head to go along with his bruise going off what the helmet looks like.

I think this is it. This could have been an opportunity for a celebrity to raise awareness about road safety. Instead he succumbed to the typical "wear a helmet or die" baloney. Cycling should be safe enough that people don't have to worry about wearing a helmet.
