Me: I'm away home, bye!
Colleague, looking dejected: couldn't start the bike this morning, pedals wouldn't turn, didn't have time to have a fiddle, when I get home later it will be too dark to do anything
Me: oh, sorry to hear that!
Colleague: it's ok, I will tell Bennie you were asking for him.
Me: yeah, tell him Boris says speedy recovery.
Other colleague to other colleague, explaining it as a matter of fact: it's names of their bikes, you know ...

Another piece of written text, rather than dialogue. From the instruction manual of some portable scales recently bought for work.

"It is forbidden that weld the indicator. when there is thunderstorm, please make solution for avoiding the thunder. in this way, it can protect the safe of scales and stuff".

Whilst stood in the queue at the checkout in Lidl. There's a woman in front, just about to pay...

Man on till: "That'll be £245.69 please..."

I didn't know that was possible...
I've seen it once before but they did buy a telly.

a friend and fellow volunteer at the wetland centre today:

him: we found the most disgusting thing ever today
me: oooh, what?
him: it was horrible. speaking as a man of science i can honestly say it is the most disgusting thing i have seen
me: really?
him: yes. want to see it?
me: of course

in the office was a small transparent jar and inside was a small leech from one of the ponds... underneath were loads of little ones, wrigging around - the underside was against the side of the jar, so fully visible.

it was horribe i took photos and he put a microscope on it and we constantly went "ewwwwwwwww", yet kept looking.

we are geeks.

'F'KIT' ...to myself as i jinked right, then left and up a dropped kerb to get onto a cyclepath.....and didnt guage the kerb right as it was covered in fallen leaves...BANG BANG, front and back wheels .
Fulcrum 5s...lovely wheels, no damage, not even a pinch puncture, and they did go with a bang.

2 minutes later, just arriving at a junction, a lady walking with her bike said...
'Oooh, thats a good bike light ...where can i get one ?'
'You can''t i'm afraid, i made it myself'
'How much would one as good cost though ?'
'At least £70..'
We chatted for 5 minutes, she wants a light to see with, she knows of my LBS, so she's going soon with £30 or £40 in her pocket...
