I was thinking facing northish somewhere close to the North Coast 500 with masts on a hill nearby.

I might go and fish my laptop out to search on because this kind of thing isn't good for my eyes on a small screen!

I'd been looking at Caradon Hill transmitter in Cornwall, but I can only see two masts there, and in any case can't find any road at just that angle, though it has strong south-west moorland vibes to me. Although I accept that other moors are available.

It's not Cornwall

it looks very much like dumfries and galloway - and I guess by the shape of that tree we are looking south

Looking North-ish

I had high hopes for the Black Hill transmitting station, but can only find unmarked single track roads in its vicinity.

I would say the opposite! The tree branches looks like they have grown slightly away from us to the right due to the prevailing SW wind, so that would suggest that we are looking northish.

you're absolutely 100% correct, I need to give my head a shake

its lack of fresh air, I better go out on the bike!

Summing up

@ColinJ North Coast 500 - close in that it's North Scotland.

@OldShep - west of Scotland.

So we have a long distance cycle route in the NW of Scotland heading north west-ish.

The transmitters are on the database and can be seen on google street view (but are not very clear due to a rare cloudless blue sky).

:okay:

Well that was tough. Not sure why I didn't consider leaving the mainland before the Stornoway hint.

it's the A858 heading towards Achadh Mor on the isle of Lewis or Harris. no idea where one stops and the other starts)
