what was going to be the cryptic clue?
...which for anyone who hasn't figured it out yet, leads you to Hoselaw. It wasn't fully formulated but was going to be something to do with the rules about drought restrictions. Or stockings.
The previous road was a first... The picture of a road was posted. It is recognised by someone who does not name it but gives an unsolicited clue. The clue is used by someone else to find the road but he doesn't name it either. Then the OP comes back on and he also doesn't name it!!!![]()

@Mr Celine is quite right to award the win to @Marchrider, and what a superb picture we have as a result.
Personally I'm quite happy with folks giving clues to other poster's puzzles.
Spot on - your turn
I was looking at it on my little phone screen earlier and it didn't have quite the same impact as on my 12" laptop screen - yes, superb!@Mr Celine is quite right to award the win to @Marchrider, and what a superb picture we have as a result.

It is a curious road, it is a sort of super highway across the hills with little more than a dilapidated single track road on either end of it, I believe it was back in EU days (and please lets not go down that mad road) and money given to help rural areas, in this case the extraction of timber from the large commercial forests. Its a well made road, lovely surface and has very little traffic, watch out for the logging trucks though, they don't take prisoners - but most of all it is a fantastic road to ride on
It's older than that, though may have been widened at some point. The summit is known as Note o' the Gate which IIRC has some connection with Mary Queen of Scots. Old OS maps show a toll bar at the summit, according to Canmore it was turnpiked in 1825.It is a curious road, it is a sort of super highway across the hills with little more than a dilapidated single track road on either end of it, I believe it was back in EU days (and please lets not go down that mad road) and money given to help rural areas, in this case the extraction of timber from the large commercial forests. Clue - It's on a long distance cycling route.
