Wikipedia seems to be very inconsistent with their medal tables. This could be something to do with team v individual events. Stark had 1 individual silver and three in team events.

Post office tower wasn't built until the 60s, and that marker predates that.

The nominal centre of London for distances is on the south side of Trafalgar Square. There's a plaque. It's where the original "Charing Cross" was.

It's odd, because it's in the City of Westminster, not the City of London. The City of London does have a competitor - the "London Stone" which is opposite Cannon St station. That may or may not have been the Roman equivalent. Nobody's really sure what the London Stone originally was.

To narrow it down a bit further it should be not far off this circle. (These are milestones that indicate roughly 27 miles from London, mostly a wee bit more)

I used this

It's got the lat/lon of some milestones. So calculated the straight line distance from Trafalgar Square, and checked that it was roughly the same (as you'd expect it's a bit shorter) as the distance on the milestones. I then filtered for 27-29 miles and plotted those.

Quite why I went to this trouble when I don't actually want to find the road, is a conundrum.
