dunno how i missed it first time round but this was the second place i looked, after the area around Leeds-Bradford Airport.

Well done. The sought was because it's an RAF airfield not an airport.
@ColinJ Was just the A1 back then, the A1(M) did not reach Leeming until 2012 and 2017 beyond.

It is proving harder than I expected and I want to have a break from my maps now so - sorry - you lost 500 trophy points! 
I'll check again tomorrow afternoon. If nobody has spotted it by then I will have another go.
(I am assuming Ribble Valley/Forest of Bowland ... If it isn't there then I really don't have a clue!)

I was beginning to fear that you had sneaked another Cumbrian one in!
I had a good look yesterday evening but no luck so far.
It does look like several places that I cycle round so it may be another case of me overlooking the obvious.
What surprised me was how some roads that I have cycled along hundreds of times looked relatively unfamiliar. I obviously spend more time looking at the roads than nearby buildings!
I will try again later...
