FNRttC Friday Night Ride to the Coast York to Hull 19 April, 2013

Well, we were all booked for the 9pm train then suddenly realised a few days ago that with me now being unemployed, there was nothing stopping us from going up earlier. So we're now on the 11am train arriving in York sometime between 1 and 2pm (I've forgotten). Will pop in on some friends in the afternoon then hope to meet up with a few FNR peeps for dinner / drinks / laughs before heading to York Minster.

And on that note, if someone has suddenly decided they want to go on the ride, but hasn't signed up due to not being able to afford the last minute standard walk on fare of £5,888.99, AND they get permission from their mum dellzeqq that they can come along, I have 2 tickets available WITH bike reservations and seats, for the 9 pm departure from Kings Cross if anyone's interested. Only £13 each. An absolute bargain.

I'm up in London near Liverpool Street tomorrow around lunchtime, and so can hand them over then in exchange for cash or gold bullion, or else it would have to be at Kings Cross on Friday morning 10:30 - 11 am.

Unfortunately true - if the guard spots it, as you're not allowed to lock your bike to the train. However in theory there's nothing stopping you locking 2 bikes together either side of the posts, providing you don't put the lock through the post.

IYSWIM.
Is there some silly H & S reason for that?

I'm imagining a train, passengers, a fire and a bike locked in the exit route. Yes, I know you have to be mad to be halfway along and want to get off a train by going to the wagon at the back, but in could happen. In theory.
On this ride last year someone told me his bike was being carried off the train and he intervened and said "That bike is not getting off here." A small tiny miniature little lock-ette might be a good idea.
oh, and anyone wishing to stay in the Ibis and ride back to London might do well to keep an eye on future postings (not from me) on this thread.

I have childcare responsibilities that preclude my participation this year, but the usual deal applies to any as need a place to hang out about a mile from the start and drink coffee etc before the off, or indeed back in York afterwards.

One ticket has now gone, so just one remaining, at the same bargain basement, never to be repeated, price of £13!

I'm not going to make it unfortunately. I've hurt some ligaments in my left knee and can't cycle for the moment.
I've also got a 9pm ticket to York from Kings Cross, without a bike place. Only £13. Plus if you fancy a night out in Hull I can provide you with a room in the Ibis for less than £30. Pm me if you're interested.

If the weather is anything like it is tonight you will have a lovely ride.

I am in Harrogate and I just got back in from a nice 30 mile ride and it is boiling outside, I was in base layer, short sleeved jersey and a gillet and shorts with leg warmers and I could have got away without the gillet and leg warmers no problem I only took them coz it was spitting when I set off.

Unfortunately I am now out of this ride as well. I had a diastrous clip on moment as I was pulling away from a traffic light yesterday. My foot slipped off the pedal and I slipped off the saddle twisting my back in the process. I had that sharp pain at the time which is never a good thing and I have woken up today to a seized up back that won't bend at all. A little while off the bike beckons for me!

I have got a ticket back to london on saturday afternoon if anyone is interested, with bike reservation. It is on the 15.43 from Brough (a couple of stops up the line from Hull), I have some friends there who I was going to be staying with. It is of no value to me now so I would be very happy if someone took it off my hands. If anyone gets back to me, I can stick it in the post today and hopefully you will have it by friday.

Hope you all have a great ride and enjoy the view from the bridge!

Some will go for a meal at the pizza express on the other side of the bridge from the railway station, on the righthand side of the road. You can either take your bike inside or chain it to a handy piece of stone outside.
