By all means

Any idea what time this group will arrive back in York on Saturday? I need to book my train tickets. Cheers.

It has dawned on me that this ride is getting very close. I am delighted to report that my lurgy that has been affecting me for a fortnight is now all but gone and I have been out today and more than doubled my total number of miles for April.

I am booked on the 8 pm train from King's Cross, arriving in York at 9.50 (first stop). Anyone else on this?
Also, the 1.30 pm train form Hull to London.

Hello Wowbagger, I'm on the 8pm train from St Pancras, which I'm guessing (being a non-Lunnerner) is the same place. I think I'm also on the 1.30 back from Hull. We have met, once, on this ride last year I think - I offered you Haribo but clumsily dropped them on the ground during the exchange (it was dark). You ate them anyway. Glad to see you survived.

I don't think that was me - I wasn't on last year's version of this ride. It sounds like me (5 second rule etc) but if it was another ride then my memory is letting me down, not for the first time.

My ticket says Kings Cross and my reservation is in Coach E. Looking at their website, since the only tickets left seem to be £124.50, I'd guess this train is going to be pretty full. Do you know which end of the train the guard's van is?

Well, we were all booked for the 9pm train then suddenly realised a few days ago that with me now being unemployed, there was nothing stopping us from going up earlier. So we're now on the 11am train arriving in York sometime between 1 and 2pm (I've forgotten). Will pop in on some friends in the afternoon then hope to meet up with a few FNR peeps for dinner / drinks / laughs before heading to York Minster.

Last year the guard's van was the first one you came to. Tip: take a lock in case some scrote decides to leave the train at a stop and has your bike in their possession at the time. Tip: put the cycle reservation in a see-through plastic bag and tape it to the bike so the nice guardperson can see you have a cycle reservation. Tip: if no reservation, do what Tim is going to do and partly dismantle bike and wrap in clingfilm. Tip: you will be seated bloody miles from the bike so as you approach York allow ten minutes to walk the entire length of the train through First Class to a position next to the guard's van thus allowing to pop out, walk 10 metres and pick up the bike, thus removing the need to do a 300 yard dash down the train and leap on and off with the bike before it leaves York station.

I'm thinking of attempting the ride back to York. Well, York-ish (it's a little nearer to Hull). So could the returners-to-York please wake me up and drag me along with them when we're done with breakfast, please?
