FNRttC Friday Night Ride to the Coast - Brighton 14th October 2011

Keen students of The List will notice that I and HMQM are no longer present on it, as we've got something else on on Saturday morning.

However, we will be at The Edifice helping dole out tea and buns. Feel free to cheer or boo at this news as appropriate.

There's a Tim and a place for everything.

If I'm not too late, can I jump in with confirmation of attendance for the 14th? This would be a bit of a special one for me, with wife and children coming down to meet us at the Madeira for breakfast! US flight still booked for mid afternoon, so ideas on 'how to fit a recumbent, two adults and two kids in a moderately sized hatchback' are all welcomed.

i'd like to come on this ride, but i need to be wide awake on saturday evening (which is usually not the case after night rides). i'd get more sleep if i got up at 4am then aim for brighton for 9am, meeting jolly crowd on the coast. i'll see how i feel on friday.

p.s. andy, if you don't have roof rack for your recumbent, just gaffer-tape it to the roof. couple of rolls should keep it safe.

But how would he open the doors?

no need to wrap around the car. with enough tape it shoud stay safe stuck to the roof. otoh, for added safety wrap around the roof with doors open, then shut the doors. this may reduce headroom inside, but would be more secure

I'm sure that after a Fat Boy Breakfast and a few beers there'll be loads of willing helpers with lots of advice and enthusiasm ready to dismantle the 'bent.

As for getting it back together again, well that's another matter

Good idea. Obviously you will need help with this as you would need to be inside the car before it was taped. Let's hope Rimas' alarm goes off for his 4am start so he can assist.

Isn't assembly just the reverse of disassembly? ;)

You could leave the windows open and get in and out Dukes of Hazard style.

no need for that - have the doors wide open, wrap the load around the roof, shut the doors and drive off. do the reverse on the other end. simples.
