Northwave MTB shoes.

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/northwave-scorpius-2-mtb-spd-shoes-2018/rp-prod143192

Different colours/sizes cost more than that £24.99 for black/green size 42

Seriously tempted but shouldn't - already have shoes in reserve.

I like Northwave shoes - sensible things.
Very nice and comfy , i got a pair used once on ebay for £12.50
Be aware these are very well vented so definitely a summer shoe, went 1 size up as i have wide feet and they fit well but i hav a pair of northwave spike evos in 43 and they are roomier and i could have got away with a 42 as i had to put thicker insoles in the latter.

Altura stream tights (for 'tis the season to be buying winter gear)

Got a pair.

Good quality as you would expect from Altura.

No zips at the bottom which makes getting on (not so much getting them off once you have eased over your heels) a bit tricky.

Also a somewhat odd cut. Although the large (my normal size for cycling stuff though am a medium on any sane scale) fits my vaguely 35 inch waist, the groin area is somewhat low/waist high, so they need a fair bit of pulling up - hope I don't damage them with repeatedly doing this - they could do with some form of handles

But basically good and good value - lack of a zip could make them handy for touring as would reduce washing issues/less to go wrong - though as above some struggling in the tent might be called for to get them on.

Can't decide whether to get another pair.

Note free postage level - got a cassette for a tenner to push it over.

Have they a pad?
Tough finding a decent pair of longs without a pad.

edit: Just checked the reviews. Unpadded. Good stuff. Time to purchase a pair.

Good question mr rauk (question above interloper milzy)- should have said.

Agree that it can be difficult to find such things. never understood why for seems so much more sensible to me. Retailers are often vague on their info for this.

Short answer - no, no pad I think there is a more expensive [ha!] version with a pad.

There is double extra thick later of the normal material in the seat area though - maybe just as well due to the strain you will put them under getting them on.

Would make a good commuting tight I would have thought - you could easily use a single pair all week as long as no mucky rain - and as long as you allow an extra three minutes or so in the morning to get the damn things on

By the by, on longs without pads I can recommend Pearl Izumi, though from their product descriptions it can often be tricky to find the non padded ones.

I would have thought you would have a fair chance this time of year - search for the likes of lusso etc on sale.
