Well, that's me sold then. The Furai only runs a 9spd cassette (I think) and the chain is still going strong after 3k miles or so, but I do not look forward to its eventual replacement. Yes, recumbent chains last around 3 times as long, but then you have to replace 3 at once.

Like for like replacement would be 3 x KMC X10 SL, and I'd been budgeting around £165 for the pleasure. Roughly speaking, for every gram it shaves off the Mavic, I'd be paying £1 on top.

Will they work on your 9 speed kit though? Or are you going to 10?

Nah. I'll stay at 9 for now. I'm figuring they'll be slightly narrower on the outside (and thus presumably slightly more fragile) than I actually *need*, but other than that, are pretty much the same.

Might even cut down on chain rub up front.

Cheers - Sheldon concurs, so I think I'll grab some too.

Merlin Cycles have an End of Season Light Clearance - VAT Free Prices.

It's not promoted on the home page, but it seems that many if not all lights come up VAT-free when you add them to the shopping basket.
