Hmm. I'm very tempted by those wheels. Can I sneak them into the house without the wife noticing?
This wife will more than happily welcome them!

but you would have to fight me to decide on whose bike they go...

Drat, married the wrong person!!

Do I need to do anything clever, or does the cassette just go straight on to the hub?
depends on what size cassette. you may need a spacer because the hub will take an 8, 9 or 10 speed cassette and obviously a 10 speed cassette is wider than an 8 speed so an 8 speed would need a wider spacer than the 9 speed and the 10 would probably not need a spacer but that should come with the wheels... otherwise it is just a cassette removal tool and chain whip (to get the old cassette off the old wheels) if you are doing a direct transfer.

It's a 10 at the moment, and I have all the tools to get the cassette lockring off.
I'll mull it for the rest of the day and decide later.

Combined weight is near 1800g, I thought carbon clinchers were meant to be light and race-ready?

They are 50mm so they aren't as light as the C24 version. It's an alloy rim bonded with a carbon deep section. Deep section carbon wheels, especially clinchers are higher weight. You want deep and light, then start spending lots of money on tubular ones like Zipp.

Whether or not they actually exist and I can collect them in the morning is something else! Linked here
