Ah! But they are NOT! Voltage from std alkaline is 1.5v Rechargeables = 1.2v so 4.5 vs 3.6. This makes a huge difference on one of my lights..rechargeable batteries won't give out less light as the voltage is the same. Do you mean the capacity of the battery ie milliampere's? I don't thin an 18650 battery will fit as they are longer. A good set of Lithium Iron rechargeable AAA cells should give good performance over their Alkaline cousins though.
