Flatulence - does anything work to reduce it?

I'm supposed to have a lot of flatulence with being a bowel cancer survivor. I occasionally get a bit of gas at night in the house but for some reason when I'm out it behaves itself.

Well, write it down boy ......
Having a lot of flatulence isn't a bad sign, more probably you've just eaten something which you don't normally eat.
I believe a diet should have loads of fibre (and water) which softens stools and passes waste products out of the body more quickly. Once your body adjusts to the fibre (most of us don't eat enough) the flatulence will lessen.

That said, is there anything better than letting rip with a rasping fart????

@GlamorganGuy - joking aside, have you googled FODMAP. It is focused around IBS type symptoms one of which is flatulence. There may be some suggestions there ?
I follow a low fodmap diet due to IBS issues & it keeps things under control most of the time. Lactose, Sorbitol & Fructans are my triggers. Having lived with this for a number of years you learn to never trust a fart!.
Keeping a detailed food diary would help pinpoint which foods cause wind/bloating problems, might not be just the usual suspects like cabbage, sprouts & baked beans.

Not great - the OP asked for help not infantile humour.

For anyone genuinely interested, plant-based food includes nuts, seeds, beans, pulses, whole grains, herbs and spices in addition to the usual fruit and veg.
