What puzzles me is that the only time I've never known there's a cyclist coming up behind me is when there's a strong headwind (well, it might happen more often if I rode faster, of course). No strong winds here but if you're on the south coast I do know that it's breezy squared much of the time.

Nevertheless, I've never had someone taking shelter behind me without knowing about it. I've never been in a chain gang or done competitive cycling but from time to time I've cycled in groups and ''easy'' or ''stopping'' with varying degrees of urgency might have been useful.

Also, I've been avoiding potholes for a fair old while, first with that swivel thing where you go in a straight(ish) line but the bike swiftly veers off to the left or right before quickly returning to stop you falling over, and then with a front wheel up first bunny hop and make yourself light on the back wheel thing (in an idealish world you'd manage to get both wheels off but I've never managed to do it without a good early view, which just doesn't seem to be in the nature of potholes because if you'd seen it early you'd have just gone round it.) [Ideal world]No potholes to worry about.[/ideal world]

Not blaming you in any way, just thinking about avoiding harassed hangars and wobbleized wheels.

Bunny hop over potholes!
Can't help wondering how the (unheralded) wheel sucker would have coped with a stylish bunny hop immediately in front of him followed by the realisation of a bloody great pothole about to swallow his front wheel. Would he have blamed the OP, had he had the chance?

I went out early this morning to try and avoid the traffic and every time i shoulder checked going around Richmond park i had someone right on my wheel . They must have pedaled like the clappers to get on it as i didn't pass anyone slowly . If it's just going with the flow and catching up then fair enough but chasing someone down and sitting on their wheel is a bit out of order i think .
I wasn't even going very fast :training:

Car drivers ride bicycles. Cyclists drive cars too.

Tossers on bicycles, tend to be tossers in cars.

In Regent's Park last night I sprinted to catch the fastest guy (then another guy also joined) who came past me then shamelessly drafted him for as long as I could. It was about a lap and a half, and even then I had to sprint as hard as I could away from the lights or out of corners to get on his wheel again. He didn't seem to be trying too hard, but I got a lap PR, and even got a 4 lap PR with 2 1/2 laps at a recovery pace. I didn't have the breath to thank them. My legs still hurt.
