They don't but the Tesla is still the best EV. It's streets ahead of its rivals. Tesla is not Musk.
You won't believe it but everyone still listens to Michael Jackson.

I don’t think it’s streets ahead any more, everyone is starting to catch up. My neighbour has just swapped his model 3 for a CUPRA born, and thinks the CUPRA is far better to drive and build quality is streets ahead

It’s the most expensive,
It's not even close. The 3 and Y are far more competitive than many of the rivals. When I got my ID4 it was the same price as the 3, but the tech and equipment level is frankly terrible compared to the 3 and Y. Y now starts at £46k.

There are plenty of chargers but all a bit slow, so perhaps it’s a national grid issue
I guess it is mostly because fast chargers are required for stop-offs on route, and once you get to Devon or Cornwall, you are there (not going much further), so no need for a fast charge.

On the other hand, when you get down there, Devon and Cornwall go on for ever.

If I’m going anywhere now I want to know if there is access to a 7kw charger over night.
Holiday homes are going to have to invest as most places explicitly ban trickle charging from the 240v socket.

This was our first holiday in an EV and it’s been much easier than expected, I stuck a fast charge in back on Monday (90%) and even after a week of pottering around I’ve still got 60% left, although we have walked a lot, I shouldn’t need to charge again until we travel home on Sunday, so as mine has a decent range, the lack of chargers down here has not been a problem.

Also loaded up with 4 adults and a lot of luggage, range has been good and because it’s already a heavy car and it has so much torque, you don‘t really notice that the car is laden.

It's useful to know, but somewhere where you can fast charge during lunch or dinner is just as effective. I'm not sure anyone would actually be able to tell if you took a trickle charge.

I keep a Granny charger and extension lead under the boot floor, I‘ve never had to use it but nice to know it’s there.

I guess, in part it depends how densely populated your area is. Where I am, there are maybe 500-700 houses within a 5 mile radius, and then you need to travel about 12 miles more to get any significant numbers. I doubt there would be enough demand from the immediate area to keep somebody fully employed.

I recently had new windows fitted, and the closest fitters were 15 miles, and good ones further than that. So, as with most things, we can't make assumptions about individual circumstances.

He was in a small village in Lincolnshire. The biggest village 1.5 miles away. The merchants were in the town 8 miles away. But he never really did any jobs out there. He had plenty of work for local farmers, newbuilds and extensions in the immediate villages.

I've used our granny charger multiple times. Most notable occasions
Campsite, fully charged model S over 2days
French chateau, dropped cable out of 2nd floor hotel room. Got an extra 60 miles
German farm, again out of room window fully charged car over a couple of days
Hotel in Scotland had out side socket-no destination charges so allowed us to use plug for weekend. This was back in 2019 when many hotels were not equipped for EVs

Well, I've had mine for over a year. I have had to wait an charge for about an hour once (whilst I had lunch) so not really a wait though was slightly longer than would have normally done. The rest of the time its charged at home/where I am staying/where I have parked. Almost every return trip can be done on one charge. If longer I just charge it where I am going whilst I am there. I cannot tell you how much time and money I've saved compared to going to a garage to fill up. No more detours trying to find a petrol station. No more trips to fill up before a long journey. Not more winces of £100 full tanks costs.

This what the vast majority of new EV owners experience. Charging is something like 95-99% from home
