I’ve also read that almost all EVs have battery management systems that prevent you from charging to 100% of the actual battery capacity. The 100% shown on the dash is the 100% that you can charge after the real limit has been placed. If that limit is 90% of the actual battery capacity, then charging to 100% on the dash is actually only charging to 90% of the battery capacity.

Similar to my home battery. Sold as having 13.5kWh usable capacity but actually has 16kWh of cells.

It’s not just within the rules but the rules are created as an incentive.

I think it's partly that and after trying the Tesla he has fallen in love with electric. Absolutely loves it. Loves not having to go to petrol stations. Loves the convenience etc. It's not about cost alone as he's made his own home charger. His partner's not very happy about the electric motorbike but again, he really likes it.

Nonesense, where has he got the circuitry to build a Li-ion charger with the correct BMS assembly, I bet the house insurer might have something to say about a home made battery charger!

I've never known any builder give 2 hoots about the environment, anywhere
