Nissan ENV200 is pretty much a leaf underneath. The Leaf is a good decent car. You can use an app called leafspy with a OBD Bluetooth link to analyse the battery quality.

A quick search shows you can get a very low mileage ENV for £8k+vat. This will still be in warranty for battery and drive.

The Townstar is Nissan's new model of similar size. You could look at PCP on business rates. There could cheap deals with less outlay than buying outright secondhand. You also have the benefit of 5 year warranty minimum

Anyone got any experience of EV vans? In particular Citroen Berlingo/Vauxhall Combo/
Nissan ENV.
I'd be amazed if you can get an e-Berlingo for £8k. I think the Nissan ENV is the only one likely to be anywhere near that price bracket.

Thanks. I didn’t realise the battery warranty was 8 years on the Nissan. Quite a lot of 2021 stock around for reasonable prices too.

This is the first time I’ve used my EV in cold
Weather. It’s been -1 for the last 2 days.
Range is definitely adversely affected, but charging speed also appears slower too.
100% battery still gets me over 250miles, so still worthwhile. But I can see issues if you live in Canada or Nordic regions.

I’ve noticed the same with ours, range drops much quicker. Probably doesn’t help that both heated seats and heated steering wheel are on and the heating is up to 23c.

We are almost a month in now with our new Cupra Born and have done about 1600 miles, one long trip, and the car is brilliant. So pleased we decided to go electric I have calculated that including swapping our old Mini for a Skoda Citigo we have saved around £250 this month in fuel and the cars we now have are so much better, so you really can have your cake and eat it. I can’t see myself going back to an ICE car now, I really enjoy the comfort and quietness, It’s just a relaxing place to be.

& yet Norway was one of the earliest and biggest adopters of EVs 😉

One trick is to use any ability to defrost and heat the car *before* you unplug it. Not super easy for us in our old 2019 Kona - we have to predetermine the leaving time. Easier if we left home the same time, I guess!!

The ability to defrost the car and warm it up via the app 10 minutes before I get in it is very useful.
I presume the opposite will be true when I can turn the aircon on in the summer.

It will and it is. The main problem is remembering to do it! That said, my car is already feeling warm or cool after only 5 minutes. Given a full 30 minutes it is properly warm or chilled.

Another trick is that when you live in a country that gets *very* cold, even with an ICE car you don't just park on the driveway.

Tricky as I don’t have a garage. But it rarely gets below -2 where I live.
I remember when I stayed with friends in Canada they would plug their car in over night to keep the oil warm. And that was in the 90s.

My dad used to put a fan heater in his car before work... 5mins whilst getting ready for work and the cars warm and de iced.....
