"CO2 shortage: Breweries stockpile carbon dioxide to keep beer flowing amid gas price rise and HGV crisis

Bottled and keg beers most at risk, cask ales less so, as food and drink supply problems spread"

What'll folk do!!
Now could be the time for cyclists to cash in. Do you have a stash of 16g CO2 cylinders anywhere? They could be worth a mint.

Here in the Peoples Republic of South Yorkshire all garages seem to be open and have fuel.

It's probably because the RAF and possibly AAC are the only bits of the armed forces that routinely tanker fuel around these days. They occasionally rock up on exercise to top up their helicopters.

Off topic but reminds me of a holiday in the remoter parts of Scotland many years ago
We pulled over to fill up and an old bloke came over to fill us up
by hand on a manual pump - only time I have ever seen a non electric one

as we were leaving a big Jag was pulling - according to a bloke in our party i t had 2 large separate tanks - it was to be hoped he just wanted a top up - if both tanks needed filling the poor bloke would have been there for hours!!!

anyway - back to topic!!!

The nearest station to me in Sandwich still had a pump attendant who would fill you up when I last went there a year or so ago.

My dad's series 2 XJ6 had twin tanks - he had to push a button to switch supply from one to the other. I learn now that each had a 57 litre capacity - so that's over £150 to fill up at today's prices. Did about 15mpg too, so filling up was quite a common occurrence. Magnificent car though.
