Now the bikes broken. I was happily riding when I got that familiar event when the pedals stop turning and you know the chains come off. Irritating but hey that happens and easy enough to put back. No, not this time. The cassette is at the back but the chain was off at the front and wedged into what I assume is part of the motor. It looks like it’s now also wedged under a metal clip which holds the plastic cover in place.

I’ll take it back again to the dealership tomorrow but this is a bike that cost over £3000 last month and has covered just 116 miles!!!

Certainly food for thought, Kathmandu was on my shortlist for next ebike but it may drop off sepending on how this goes for you. I wouldnt want to be stuck with no bike just because I'm not trusted to try and fix it myself.

Please read my latest update before you buy one.

Its a different bike but my Raleigh Motus uses the same Bosch motor/chainguard combo, and my chain comes off fairly often also. The chainguard is fairly useless, I took mine off, but I havent removed the metal clips yet. I'm not sure what the issue is, I've taken a couple of links out the original length to try and add more tension but it still does it. I just changed the chain too so its brand new with no stretch, same length otherwise and its still done it on todays ride.

I was thinking of trying a chain guide like this, doesn't have to be this one just an example: https://www.amazon.co.uk/BESNIN-Mou...untain+bike+chain+guide&qid=1717952000&sr=8-4

I had the chain come off my Cube Reaction and get wedged similarly and was worried it was going to be a back to dealer job. I don't know if this is going to be the same for your bike but worth a try. As you know you can't move the chain by backpedalling as on a normal bike due to the ratchet in the motor gearbox. However I was able to unwedge mine by putting the bike on a stand and carefully moving the rear wheel backwards while teasing it up and out with fingers. Once unstuck i was able to get the chain back on the ring. I was worried about damage to the motor cover but it seemed to work without damage.

Thanks. I’d give that a try but as the bike‘s just a few weeks old and still under warranty I’ll let the dealer fix it.

UPDATE. I got the bike back yesterday and will test it later today & tomorrow.

Seriously though, 116 miles covered & 2 warranty claims including a full week without my bike.

Not impressed.
