Not croissants but talk of British bakeries has reminded me - back when I was UK resident, I was rather partial to Belgian buns from Greggs. No idea why really, I acknowledge there's nothing special about them, I guess it was just unquestioned habit.
Oh love 'em two for £1-35 at Aldi.

A couple of year ago they were a pound at Bonne Bouche. I'll be there again in May, so hopefully the price is not too much.

Can't see a plain one on website but almond is £3.75. So would expect closer to £3 for plain which is a pretty standard London price now outside the supermarkets
