I’ve been enjoying the highlights show. So good to see sunshine, spectators on the grass banks and quality seam bowling. England got v lucky in first test but have really bossed this one. Harry Brook is on quite a roll, has some KP like qualities, will be interesting to see how far he goes.

At the end of the first day of the first test after NZ had carted England around the park for 319runs, I was expecting a very even series. England have bullied there way through since then. Good opportunity for Root & Stokes on day 3 to get the scoreboard rattling along, still leaving plenty of time to bowl at NZ.

Doubt New Zealand will get anywhere near 583, but stranger things have happened and there's plenty of time left for them. I had my doubts about some of the selections for this series but they were totally misplaced. Seem to have a good balance of more established players hitting form and younguns coming through at the right time which is pleasing.

Champions Trophy:

After England lost to the Aussies the other day, a increasingly likely wash out between Aus & SA means England "must win" the two remaining pools games., AFG tmr and then SA at the weekend.

It was the match official, not the Sri Lankan team. And have you seen his action ?
With a naked eye it looks better than Murali. IMO.

yes that was poor yesterday, Good power play bowling, and then lost our way.

Poor start batting and then got back into it, twice, and then crumbled.

Maybe playing 3 wicketkeepers isnt the way forward

Be interesting to see how we respond vs SA .

Buttler has to go, as captain at least. Salt is great in T20 but you cant play 50 over cricket with unbridled aggression and consistently come off and Jamie Smith isnt the answer at no 3, and without Stokes we don't have a 4th seam option / proper 5th bowler. Relying on a mix of root and Livingston for the 5th bowler doesn't leave a plan B if someone is getting tonked or injured (which is always a risk with Wood).

Stokes for white ball captain? At this point I'm just going to assume the ECB have been at the glue.
That would be ridiculous at this point. He has a test series against India and then the Ashes. After that if he is still standing he might go to the shorter form. I don’t see a standout captain in waiting, Brook might be the best option but he would need to mature a bit.

Sam Curran, lets stop obsessing about having an all super fast pace attack in one day cricket. Having a left arm seamer who bats very well is massive plus. Brook too heaving invested in Test cricket, he wouldnt play every white ball series.
