Boom Glos have beaten Middx! :okay:

Surrey, having lost 3 quick wickets to Somersets spinners, are digging in. 67 runs off 44 overs so far - glacial. I don't think they're bothered about the winning target as a draw pretty much dents any hopes of Somerset overhauling them.

Surrey lose their last 6 wickets for 13 runs as Somerset win by 111 runs, up the cider boys🍻

Surrey needed what 220 in 80 plus overs. They probably would have been better served going for the win. Somerset would have had to set more defensive fields.
But yes games on at the top of Div 1. Would prefer to see Somerset Win it

Can you name all the fielding positions as Somerset have everyone around the bat?

Exactly my point on Surrey should have been looking to score runs earlierin their innings, the Somerset wouldnt have been able to set such attacking fields 👍

anyway you have 3 slips, a fly-slip, silly point, silly mid-off, Wkt keeper, leg-slip, short leg, silly mid on, bowler.

penultimate round just got underway, generally good weather forecast, still a lot to play for in both divisions, game on or maybe "play"

solid starts by both yorks vs Glam and Derby vs middx. Glos are crumbling vs Sussex so D2 title looks in the bag for them

Last round of matches starts today. Will Yorkshire or Middlesex get promoted? Yorkshire have a 15 point lead but 4 days of rain in Leeds is not unheard of, while Middlesex are in Sussex. Geography could be the winner!

weather actually looks better after today (I predict no play today) in Leeds than Hove. I suspect to get a result in Hove they may need to forfeit an inning a piece - which will effectively hand the promotion spot to Yorkshire regardless

But yes bit of damp squib all round. Play started on time at Taunton in 2nd vs 3rd in Div 1, With Somerset quickly at 4-2

Let's hope so as home games have not been good to us for some time. It's been 3 years since our last win and that was only down to both sides trying make a game of it.
Be good if we go up the last few games things have come together nicely. Hopefully the next coach and I hope a better captain can build on it.
It won't be a walk in the park for us with the big boys that for sure.

by Home I assume you mean Headingley, as Scarborough has generally been good.

As far as I can work it out Yorkshire need 2 bonus points and at least a draw to be sure IF Middlesex get a high points win. The latter is less likely if they lose a lot of time and would go (I think) if they were forfeiting innings to force a result.
