The India fans were pretty poor in the final I thought. Not acknowledging Head's century, leaving when it was clear they were going to lose...

The tournament overall has been a pretty poor advert for a country that's cricket obsessed. Poor crowds and some terrible pitches isn't a good look.

Maybe many have had enough of the throw the bat at any thing that moves format of cricket. Which sadly has become the take it or leave it format and not the complementary one it use to be.
Take up and spectator numbers are down access the board some once great test nations struggle to get anyone truly interested in the game. Governing boards across the board response is play more but less quality and it will all be fine. It's clearly not fine but to they care ? No they just want to run after anyone with a big enough wallet.

Root follows Stokes in withdrawing from the IPL, which I can understand as he really wasn't involved for the Royals last season. I wonder if this is the sign of change in the popularity of the IPL?

Maybe a reflection that nowadays it's not just the IPL that pays well in cricket.

Also you only get the big bucks if you play all the games and quite a few intl "stars" have been signed but then had local talent selected ahead of them.

Nope.

It simply saves the ignomy of being unsold. Stokes of course is having surgery anyway so needs recuperation luck.

They also have the big safety net of central contacts paid to play or not and not forgetting the nice earners of personal sponsorships.

I once got hit for 42 off two overs in a 40 over game, the chap who did all the damage (who was about 70 odd not out when I came onto bowl) was dropped at long on off my third ball

Ouch! The last game I played (standing in for an injured pal) the wicket keeper was particularly inept and let everything go through him. As I was just a ringer I couldn't ask to swap but I was absolutely livid by the end because we'd have won if not for his incompetence!

We contrived to somehow lose against the West Indies earlier. I wasn't expecting quite such an inept bowling display but that was just hopeless. How Curran is getting a place in the side is beyond me.

most disappointing was that Livingstone and Ahmed bowled really well and were hard to get away, yet Jacks never got a bowl. If Buttler had given him 4 or 5 overs in the middle, he wouldn't have had to bowl out Curran out at the ned when he was getting whacked and missing his lengths

Buttler looks completely out of his depth as captain. I don't know what the solution is to be honest, but it isn't him!

On his own form: "I feel good, I just keep managing to get out. It's disappointing, frustrating and gone on for a lot longer than I would have liked but there's only myself who can score my own runs.
Gobbledygook at it's finest.
