Imho they should know the letter of the laws
This is a daft statement. Outside of the Umpires, 99% of players don't know much detail. You'll find the same in every professional sport. Watch the coverage of a handball or offside decision in football. In reality, I'm happy with "my" team not knowing every letter (although I admit it can be helpful!).
But this is by-the-by; if you read the
rules Laws, you will see that this situation is governed by the opinion of the people on the pitch!
And while I'm here; almost every opinion I read in favour of the Aussie interpretation of the Starc/Bristow incidents includes a
"Y
eah but whatabout ... ?" clause. Decisions shouldn't be made like that! If you can only defend your side's cheating with playground logic -
SIR! He did it first! - then you are not on firm ground. Sorry :P
