Did you watch this test? The Aussies did at least 12 stupid things.

That's sport - especially over 5 days - get used to it. The score is the score, it includes mistakes, genius, boring play, brave play ... and then 1 team wins. (Usually Australia, sadly!)

We won ONE test in 17 using "common sense" / proper cricket / whatever ...

I just watched the highlights. Everybody to their own opinion. Really like the positive attitude that they have. The main thing that I thought was crazy was declaring in the first test, first innings. If it had had the desired effect, wouldn't be saying it. But it was a lifeless wicket, its the Ashes against Australia, not a test match against Sri Lanka or something. I respect your opinion, we've all got them.

Nope could be a draw?

One of the more subtle aims of Bazball is to make every over count, to keep the game moving forward, and not let it drift.

That could be by smashing the ball all over the place, but doesn't have to be.

When Stokes declared the game was starting to drift, we were never going to score many more runs.

By declaring to give us a few overs against the Aussies some momentum was immediately injected back into the game.

It didn't work, but neither did it cost us many runs on our total.

Much of the harumphing was based on: "You can't do that because, well, it's just not done."

Which is not the way to try to beat an excellent team who are marginally better than we are.

While I actively hate the term "Bazball", you're not wrong. There is a lot more subtlety to the approach we have than some seem to realise. Stokes' second innings is a perfect example of this: he was on 30 off 80 balls or something, then went rogue and started hammering everything post Bairstow when it became "Meh, might as well eh chaps?". Green in particular took an absolute pasting.

Annoyingly we're at it again, first 7 over conceding 10 extras!!!

They need to stop Wood bowling at 95mph - let's see some gentle stuff that the batters and keeper can get to.

Bowled him!

Wood has just uprooted Khawaja's leg stump.

Only three of the best Test batters in the world to go.
