I like the new approach. I think it is fair to say that England's batting line up is no better than Australia's and I suspect the bowling line up is weaker. So to win games England needs to find an edge from somewhere. Despite Australia knowing what was coming they still seem to have failed to come up with a coherent plan to counter the ultra aggressive batting and are always playing catch up, with the pressure that brings. I'm also impressed by the innovative field placings of the England team.
I hope England can put a 250+ lead on the board and then we will see, the pitch seems to be deteriorating quite quickly

Brooks out just before lunch!
We don’t have enough runs yet.

yes very much so. A lot resting on Stokes and Jonny B. If they bat the afternoon out, we'llbe fine. but Lyon and Cummins are both looking very dangerous.

tense times....

Stokes and Bairstow are two of the finest batters in the world. We will be fine. Put on another hundred, declare at tea, skittle them, job done. If Australia have managed to work out how to play against us the second test will be a different affair, but so far they look clueless.

I don't know whether to admire @AndyRM s optimism or laugh at his naivety🤣

I think it is an attempt to push things our way by force of will

I've been following England since the mid-90s, I'm not new to this and I'm well aware of past frailties/relying on one player to dig us out of a hole. We're miles away from that, and this is easily the strongest line up I've ever seen us play.

Like I said, weather and time are our only enemies here.

Are you arguing for another declaration?
