I used to like the local draught beer, was it called Hopleaf or something like that?

Completely useless fact alert:
I think I once worked for the architect of the brewery.

Tunisia. Permanently hassled in shops & souks to the point of never buying anything even though I actually wanted to!
The terrorist attack on Sousse Beach, where more than 30 tourists were killed, was the one for the hotel we were staying at and was not long after we had left.

A family near me, about 1/2 mile away were killed in that attack. It was awful, I'd never go there or Egypt. My friend went to Tunisia with her boyfriend and they were also hasselled all the time and in the end stayed in the hotel and grounds all holiday.
Malta is somewhere I'd never go back to. Its a complete total and utter dump.

I was in Malta mid 70's and I don't remember it to be a dump..
Do they still tell jokes about the residents of Gozo? 🤔

A filthy, run down dump.
Imagine the worst council estate in the U.K x 100 and thats Malta.

That wasn't my experience at all. It was similar to other mediterranean countries in terms of things like rubbish and general "half built" appearance, but no worse than Greece or Spain.

I still wouldn't go back, but only because we saw all we really wanted to in the one visit.

Uninteresting fact, on two different holidays to Malta we twice boarded the boat to Gozo. However both times the weather defeated us so never got there.

We honeymooned at that Hotel, though it was a few days after '9/11' - found the Tunisians lovely, though there was nothing else to do apart from the Hotel itself, though others did visit the neighbouring hotels to have a change of 'scenery'...
There was the option of going on a 3 day trip to see the Stars Wars village thingy and seeing other desert things, didn't fancy it and lots of people who came back complaining about the sand :laugh::laugh:
Did have a walk up to the false harbour and row of shops which had been built for 'tourists' & the locals couldn't understand why we wanted to walk there and not get a taxi.
Wouldn't go back as not the type of holiday I'd want in the future, but was a very nice honeymoon destination if you just want to do nothing...
