To be honest anywhere that now entails long haul.

I probably share this reservation with the other DVT sufferers on here.

That pretty much mirrors the places I have been.

Went to see Wales play USA in a friendly in San Jose but based ourselves in San Francisco for that trip.

On our second trip drove down from Calgary through Montana and then across to Seattle. Stayed there a few days then back up to Vancouver Island where my sister lives.

Like slowmotion we found the people friendly and polite.

Edit. Yes I am aware some of the trip was in Canada before someone wants to correct my geography!

Ah yes, San Jose. Nearest I got too being shot there. Went drinking in a different bar. Missed the guy who turned up with a blind man's handgun and shot 40 rounds into the place.

Ditto, but not because of DVT (and you have my sympathies btw). I just don't like air travel, and not because I'm preaching eco either. I like trains though. That said, I think my notions of train travel have become somewhat idealised - I think more of overnight Berlin to Vienna rather than the midweek 7:13 Sevenoaks to Charing Cross.

Tbh, I think my travelling days are over. I'm happy to pootle about locally and maybe the odd week away with my tent, but I can't see me venturing further. Never say never though.

I presume I am highly unusual in this day and age as I have never left these shores. Only been to England and Wales.
You've beaten me. I thought I was very untravelled, but I've been to Wales, Scotland, France, & Greece.

I'd love to go back to Canada - I did a 14-day driving holiday on the west side in 1996 and loved it; we were planning a family break there until Covid hit. But then again, rather like other large countries, Canada is a diverse place with a big east/west divide so I have no idea what most of it is like, only the bits from Calgary to Vancouver Island.

I toured the French side which is why it felt so alien to me.

Syria and Russia. I found both of them fascinating if occasionally challenging, and normally I would have liked to visit again if the world had stayed as it was in 2000, but it hasn't. The devastation of Syria shows little sign of abating, and I think we are in for some very bad times to come with Russia, which puts any ideas of a repeat journey on the Trans-Siberian railway into the deep freeze.
