*ahem* did you leave me off the list on purpose? I am particularly interested now that that well know fast man @I like Skol has withdrawn. Fed up with losing his wheel up the hills
Oops! What I have been doing is taking the last list I posted and updating that with any changes since I posted it so I must have left you off an earlier list and carried the omission through ... Fixed!

Hi Colin

I'd like to join the ride please, probably for the 100 imperial.

There are good deals on the trains up from Cov if I book now, and if the weather's good I may ask your advice for a good cycling route back down south on the Sunday!

Rob
Name added to list!

If you were up for a very tough route all the way back to Cov, I could give you a precise one - the route I did in 2007. ***Here*** it is plotted from Coventry to Hebden Bridge - roughly 130 miles. Going back from here, the first half is very hilly, including Holme Moss and Snake Pass plus lots of smaller climbs. If you want a shorter ride on the Sunday, you could cycle from here to Hathersage on my route then divert to Sheffield and catch a train back to Cov from there. It is a nice challenging 60-odd miler from here, with some great views.

That looks like a cracking route but I'll see how I feel after the century on the Saturday. I've got a backup plan which involves a cheap advance ticket home from Manchester on Sunday afternoon, and calling in on my young nephew to show me round the curry houses in universityland there.

That sounds like a good backup plan!

Don't forget to do a bike reservation with the backup ticket! (I have seen people sneak onto mainline trains with their bikes without reservations, but I have also seen people turfed off trains for not having them.)

Colin, @robjh is a really skinny & speedy fecker - I did a ride with him from Llandrindod Wells. When I say 'with', I wasn't even in his slipstream, but about a mile behind. Rob is deffo one for the front of this ride. Nice fella though, even if he is a S. Southerner.

Svendo is pretty handy too.

I think this is developing into a 'say hello to each other at the start and then pick your group' kind of ride! I know we have a slow group, and there is definitely the makings of a quickish group too. Whether we decide to have a 3rd group in between can wait until the day.

Incidentally if you do decide to get a minibus or anybody has a tall vehicle - as Christopher mentioned above - there is a 2 metre height restriction on the car park. If you come in a taller vehicle, you would have to park down the hill somewhere in Whalley.

Steve H made a joke about ducking below the barrier, but he actually scraped his cycle helmet on it on one of our rides - he is about 10 or 12 cm taller than me and I am 1.86 metres tall! (I am 6' 1 " and he is 6' 5" or 6' 6")

Haaaaa! I wondered how long it would be before that came up.

Nice fella that @pubrunner, though he does carry a lot of beer in his water bottles. Must be that that slowed you down on the hills!

I wasn't too bad on the hills, (going up) it was the fast descents and the flat bits, that did for me. The Guinness genuinely helped

Ok you lot ... I think I may have mentioned in passing that a couple of minor ailments prevented me organising any rides since June 2012?
Great to see you well enough to organise rides again. :bravo::bravo::bravo:

Might have been tempted to ask if there's space for one more, but it's looking quite busy now.

Cheers - I'm well enough to organise the ride, and I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will be able to get fit enough by 29th March to actually do the ride!

I was overweight and out of shape before I got ill, but I was always very strong so my body could take a lot of punishment. (The doctors said that was how I survived the illness!) The trouble is I that my health now is much more fragile so I have to careful not to overdo things. I am ok to a certain point, but I don't have the strength to really push myself.

If I think I can only manage the main loop, I will have to try and cadge a lift to/from Whalley.

If I don't even feel up to doing the main loop, I would ride to the start and see you all off, then ride home (that would be about 45 miles).

Might have been tempted to ask if there's space for one more, but it's looking quite busy now.
I think a few people will drop out before the ride, and lots more will if the forecast is not good that morning! Mind you, if we get a glorious day for it then more people might decide at the last minute to come along.

It certainly looks like being the biggest ride that I have organised,

Come along, if the numbers don't put you off!

If you are coming Tim maybe we can share transport.
Aha! Just realised the ride doesn't start from Hebden Bridge (which has a direct train service to Leeds). If I go then sharing transport would be a good idea.

By the way, do you intend to do this ride on fixed.Last I heard your multi-gear refurbishment had stagnated, and you were happy to ride fixed everywhere

Tubbycyclist is going to lead an extended ride from Hebden Bridge to Whalley and back at the end of the day. If I am fit enough by then, I will ride over with him and anybody else who fancies riding 107 miles rather than 103 km.

If I came I'd do the metric century, doubt I'd be fit enough for the imperial as early as March.
