When I think I holding up the car behind me, I soon realise they are awestruck by my pert lycra clad bum and they just can't bring themselves to overtake. If they warrant it, I'll get out the saddle and give them an extra wiggle...

surefire crowd pleaser

So I've bought my bike and all the bits I need, helmet, padded shorts, bright orange and black top, gloves etc. I wore it all today for my first ride. Do I look stupid wearing all that gear as I've only got a beginners bike and I'm only just starting out? Is that all for the professional?

You'll feel like you look a lot dafter than you really do. In time you will find gear that you just feel happy wearing and it may not be the stuff you've chosen today...or it may.

Bollocks to what others think you look like, at least your out on a bike making an effort to keep fit and have some self pride, rather than slouching it on a couch watching stupid football.
All I'd say is try to avoid team kits until you can ride your entire training ride without looking as if you are sucking on a lemon.
