When I was a teenager we were going out one evening and my Dad and I were in the lounge watching teh telly while my Mum got ready

After a while she came down and asked how she looked - nice dress etc etc

she went back upstairs to "finish off" and I got up and started walking towards the door
My Dad looked at me and asked "where are you going"
"I'm going to get my coat - Mum's ready"

"Sit down - that was only the first dress - there will be another 3 yet and then back to the first one"


and he was dead right

EDIT - but she was never late - never

My mum is slightly different. She pootles around for an hour and gets ready very slowly, and then at the last minute when everyone is saying "hurry up", she makes a load of escuses as to why she's behind. Such as "well you haven't had to unpack the dishwasher", even though this was done an hour before she even started to get ready! She is often a bit late
