Cars of the seventies and eighties that you still like the look of

I agree with the 2CV - I persuaded my Mum to get one when I passed my test

I could take that car anywhere - and did take it a few places it shouldn;t have gone

speed was a problem - my Dad had some car magazines on his waiting room and there was a review of the 2CV along with all the high performance ones they normally dealt with
the 0-60 speed was listed as "probably"

I can attest that the one we had would do 60 - unless there was a headwind
stopping it was a problem according to my Dad
I saw no problem - if you pressed the brake pedal it nearly always stopped the car
and it always did the second time you pressed it
(except that once when it took 3 goes but I didn;t mention that)

Great car

Has anyone mentioned the Jensen Interceptor yet??
great looking and the best name for any car ever

Mum had a left-hooker Dyane 6. Much the same applies in terms of, ahem, performance.

OTOH it was a great reliable city car, and did mum well in her job as a district nurse. And the advantage at school pick-up time - you could hear the damn thing coming well before you could see it. That 600cc 2-cylinder air cooled engine had SUCH a distinctive note.

+1 for 2CV types.

A green Dyane, that we loved and had lots of adventures.

Then there was a white 2cv - that lasted our extended tour in Europe. We had to sell it when we came home.
If Ernie ever delivers then one is on the list.

Amazing number in Madagascar, in various stages of decay.

I would love a 2CV or Renault 4. The only reason I didn't include them on my list is I didn't consider either a car of the '70's or '80's as both go back much further.

MGB GT anyone? I particularly liked the Austin 1100 rear lights

Probably for the best.

It looks nice all the same, which I thought was the point of the thread.
